"Eastwick" 1.01 Pilot Review

Aaaaahhhhh!!! I have been waiting sooo long for this show to start that I even stayed up until 5am to watch this remarkable show. Rewatching promos and previews of the show, I was absolutely gagging to watch the Pilot, and now I finally watched it and I LOVED it!
.
Even though the show has been getting generally mixed reviews from several critics, from the very first minute I was drawn into the show and fell under the spell of the main women. I love how the Pilot episode just never stopped, it kept going and going and there wasn't one dull moment in it.
.
Roxie was introduced first, so I will begin with my opinions on her. I really love Roxie, she is fiesty, a mother I'm sure loads of kids would love to have her as their mother, fun, hip and sexy. I especially find her 'romance' with Darryl quite funny, as she herself doesn't know what she wants. She is quite stubborn, a little like me, and just a pleasure to watch. She was compared to by Susan Mayer a lot by critics, but Susan is my favourite character in Desperate Housewives, and I would say Roxie is very different.
.
I am torn between my favourite either being Roxie or Joanna. Joanna is the nerdy but loveable woman who works at the local newspaper and has a thing for Will, but has great difficulty telling him her real feelings, or even telling him anything that makes sense because she really gets nervous around him and ends up saying something very inappropriate, which is hilarious to watch.
.
Last up is Kat, a mother of five, I think it was five anyways, who is married to a complete and utter jerk. Honestly, I think Maggie Friedman was trying to get us to hate Raymond with all our hearts and make us feel compassion for Kat, and to tell you the truth it kind of worked. While Kat is the more serious one, she is just trying to burst out her bubble and have fun, but is constantly squashed by her horrible husband. I do hope she gets that divorce.
.
And now Darryl. He is quite a charmer for the ladies, and since this show is only partly based on the film, but more so the books too, I will not compare Paul Gross to Jack Nicholson. While Jack did an amazing job as Darryl in the film, I was very pleased to see Paul do just as good in the television adaption. He had all the spunk that the original Darryl had and I am sure he will continue to be this way throughout.
.
This show is like Charmed meets Desperate Housewives, and I simply adored the Pilot episode, it had all the elements of a successful television comedy that was just simply funny and serious at the same time. I am excited to watch more episodes because I am beginning to think this show may become my all-time favourite! Let's just hope the ratings held up, it deserves a large rating!

"Cougar Town" 1.01 Pilot Review

Well I enjoyed it. I love Courtney Cox, so I kept my mind open when watching the Pilot, and let me tell you something, it sure was random. And I really like random, and comedies, so random comedy put together.
.
I wouldn't say this is better than Friends, I wouldn't go that far, but the show does have a lot of promise and I need to watch a few more episodes before I get an opinion on this show. There were moments that were funny, and moments that were trying too hard to be funny, and you may have seen the idea of that joke somewhere else before. But all in all, not bad for a new comedy.
.
The characters seem very likeable, yet I doubt we will get depth from them any time soon. The random storyline that I liked the most was the billboard sign that Jules had made for her realty selling, though her friend, Laurie, put quite a 'revealing' picture of her on it, insisting it was better than the one Jules originally picked out. I do hope more episodes have a bit more laughing moments in them before I fully call it a comedy.
.
Laurie seems to be the stereotypical dumb one, yet I seem to like her. Jules is probably likeable from the get-go so that's a bonus for sure. I am excited to see more of this, but as I said, I need to watch more episodes to fully grasp what I think of this series.

"Melrose Place" 1.03 Review

Only 1.50 million people tuned in for a really great episode? Come on! It deserved a lot more than that, definetly, the episode was filled with everything.
.
Starting with Riley and Jonah, they are a great couple, but can't seem to go through one whole episode without an argument arising. Ella is wonderful, really dominant yet she shows she has a vulnerable side, so I really love her character, I am still torn with who my favourite character is - Riley or Ella, hmm!
.
This episode had everyone feeling a lot more relaxed now, I think the show is finally getting settled and really boiling out the good stuff. It was good to see Jonah doing that music video, bless him when he is told he won't get credited for it, I hope Ella slaps her boss one, and soon. Violet is becoming more likeable, though still a little strange, I can tell she is attracted to Auggie, and him refusing to take the sunglasses can't be good.
.
The ending was very creepy- why does David's father have a file called Ella and another one called Auggie on his computer for? That is seriously strange and I can't wait to find out what the files contain, and I wonder if he has any files on the other characters.
.
All in all, an episode that is proving the series is getting better by the minute and something I look forward to seeing renewed for a second season, though with the ratings being quite bad, I have little to no hope of that happening.

"The Vampire Diaries" 1.02 Review

Best New Show This Year? Well I need to see "Eastwick" first since I am obsessed with that show before it's even started, but anywho, this show so far is the best new show this year, definetly. And episode 2 is my favourite episode so far.
.
Yet again we have mystery and intrigue, and the characters are getting more depth, and the character I am watching out for is Bonnie. She is shaping to be a fine character indeed, and her psychic abilities are going to get her involved in some scary business with the Vampires and other creepy creatures that lurk in the night. Elena needs to be fleshed out a bit more also, but I do like her character, but the one thing I hated about the episode is the Elena and Stefan kiss- it was way too early. You would think they would build their romance and make it more adorable to watch, but we got it in the second episode of the whole series.
.
Vicki is also shaping up nicely with her Damon attack. I actually really like Damon's villainess, and has some funny lines too, but I do hope he shows at least a bit of sympathy to someone soon. And the ending? Shocked me! I thought it was way too early to even contemplate Caroline dying because of Damon biting her. I hope she isn't dead! One of the best episodes of the week, so I love it just fine, I wonder how future episodes can top it.

"Melrose Place" 1.02 Review

Loved, loved, loved it. I know I seem to like anything these days, but Melrose is a new series I am really getting my teeth stuck in to. I might have to watch the original series too, when I have the time.
.
For my favourite character? Currently I am torn between Riley and Ella, both are great and different to each other. The episode furthered the characters and fleshed them out a bit more, which is what I always like to see. I love knowing more about the characters because then I will be able to feel emotions for them whenever they are happy, sad, angry etc. So is this a show I will buy on DVD? You bet'cha!
.
Episode 2 is a step up from the first episode. It felt more relaxed and chilled and I love watching relaxing shows. I loved the Ella storyline, trying to get a client for the firm she works out to ensure she keeps her job, and the struggle to get one was quite funny to watch. I still have to remember names of all the characters so I probably won't talk about all of them. Last episode I thought Auggie murdered Sydney (?) but now I am not so sure, he seems to be more likeable this episode. Violet is also developing too, into both a sexy character to a dark and wierd character. The episode showed 2 sides of Violet, and my opinion of her is unclear at the moment.
.
Melrose Place can balance comedy and drama perfectly, so its a show I will remain faithful to until its end.

"The Vampire Diaries" 1.01- Pilot Review

Now this is a show I know I will love this season. From the very first episode, I knew the CW had another classic hit series. With an amazing 4.84 million viewers tuning in for the premiere, I was genuinely pleased I watched it as soon as I could. The very first scene was filled with horror, and something Supernatural has been lacking lately. It immediately drew me in, and it's one of my favourite Pilot episodes of every show I watch.
.
The character of Elena is someone I can identify with, she is amazingly acted and easily likeable. Her friend, Bonnie, is also a great character, someone I am intrigued about, especially that freaky moment in the Pilot when she grabbed the bottle and had that vision thing and it kind of freaked me out- I LOVED IT! And finally, a male character I like. It's rare for me to really like male characters, and besides Dean Winchester, I really like Stefan, he seems very protective of Elena.
.
Damon is a strange character, but very exciting to watch him develop. He seems to be a great villain and he will definetly generate more scary scenes in upcoming episodes, and it's strange because even though Ian Somerhalder played Boone in Lost, he kind of looks really different when playing Damon, and sounds quite different too, he definetly makes the character his own, bravo!
.
A series I will be watching every week til its finale, I recommend new fans to watch for sure, it's completely breath-taking.

"Melrose Place" (2009) 1.01- Pilot Review

While Melrose Place may never ever be my favourite show, I can safely say I did enjoy the pilot episode. The mystery is intriguing and some of the characters are likeable, though I keep forgetting their names, it takes me a while to remember names in various television shows, so I'll mainly talk about the show in general.
.
I've never seen the original Melrose Place, though after watching the pilot of this show, it does make me want to watch the original series. It will take me a while to watch it though as I am swamped with other television shows to watch, new and old, and even lots of shows to catch up on, such as the CSI series and Beverly Hills, 90210.
.
Riley, so far, is my favourite character, though Ella is definetly a strong character who I take a liking too. I don't know why but with every show I always like the female characters more than the male characters, I guess the writers just make the females more likeable for some reason.
.
The story was good, and I am really excited about the mystery, and I know I will be drawin in for the rest of the series as I love 'Whodunit' types of thing so this will be a series worth watching for me. Unfortunatly, the series only premiered with 2.30 million viewers, so I hope viewership picks up as the episodes go along.

"90210" Season One Review

I had never seen the original Beverly Hills 90210 series, and so I thought I wouldn't enjoy the series. Turns out that you don't need to see the original series to love this spin-off show from it. All I knew from the original series was that Shannen Doherty (Brenda Walsh in original and spin-off series) was in it, and I love Shannen ever since I had seen Charmed where she played eldest sister witch Prudence Halliwell. It took a while before I got to watching this series, but nonetheless, I finally watched it.
.
The series may not be the best, but it has its own uniqueness, and deserves better ratings than it had been getting. I am still unsure on a favourite character, as all characters have their own quality, and the series got better as it got going. Jennie Garth was also in the original series as Kelly Taylor, and reprises her role in this series, becoming a more prominent character than Brenda Walsh, who I adore.
.
One of my favourite episodes is Off the Rails, beforehand Silver was getting out of hand and uncontrollable with her love for Dixon, and going a bit loop-de-loo, but Silver was so great. It was very dramatic and quite a turn for the series, which had seen parties and fun being more prominent before. The finale was also amazing, again one of the best finales of 2009, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for Annie when Naomi's sister planted her wrap in Naomi's room, and Naomi's sister slept with Naomi's boyfriend, Liam, leaving Annie's wrap in the room so Naomi immediately suspected Annie to have slept with Liam, and doesn't know that it wasn't her and it was in fact her own sister. Naomi confronts Annie in front of everyone in the party (Annie had been accused for selling out someone else's party at the Prom, and people turned on her for it, even though she didn't) and poor Annie had abuse shouted at her from people at the party as well as Naomi, and even some horrible boy throws water or punch in Annie's face which was completely out of order. Poor Annie broke down.
.
I can't wait to see Season 2, to see how Annie develops from a fun, loving young girl to a turned bullied student who will have nothing short of abuse coming her way from every student at school, it's so horrible to Annie, yet so compelling for the viewer.
.

"Dollhouse" Season One Review

Well I wasn't originally going to watch this series after reading some negative reviews and someone on MSN told me it wasn't worth watching, so I didn't watch it. But after a few months, just last week, I began to watch the series, mainly because I was bored and I had just finished watching Heroes Season 3 after catching up on that. I put on the first episode of the show after researching what it was about on Wikipedia and stuff, and I did enjoy and liked the pilot episode. It wasn't the best, but it had promise. And as I read from some reviews, that the series gets better as it goes along, that from episode 6 onwards is the best of the season, so I believed it, and remained watching the other episodes.
.
I definetly enjoyed the episodes that followed, episode 2, 3, 4 and 5 were all good, and I couldn't wait to watch episodes 6 onwards since they have been so positively viewed from other fans and critics. I found the series intriguing and compelling, it definetly caught my eye and it became one of my favourite seasons in the 2008-2009 season. Eliza Dushku is one of my favourite actresses, and she does an amazing job in the series as the main character Echo (formerly Caroline). The other characters are very likeable also, Sierra, Victor, Mellie, Topher, Dr. Claire Saunders, and even Adelle is likeable, even though she is a strict, bossy woman who runs the L.A. Dollhouse (there are more than one, scattered throughout the world).
.
I love the missions they go on (one of my personal favourites is when Sierra disguises herself as a chinese woman who works at a place where the identity of the Spy in the Dollhouse would be revealed, I found that scene fun when she had to go and make her way through the building). But the finale of season one became a favourite episode for me.
.
The finale was so amazing, the plot was fantastic, and the action in the episode is suspenseful and is definetly one of the best finales of 2009. What I loved most was when Alpha tried to destroy Echo's original memories as Caroline, but Echo has been implanted with her past mission alter-egos and made to be like Alpha, the villain. However, Echo pulls off some really cool fighting moves and saves her original memories. It had a very good cliffhanger, and I can't wait for Season 2 to begin.
.
Season 2 will begin on September 25, 2009 with 13 new episodes, starting with the first under the working title of "Vows". The DVD is already out in America, and the UK will enjoy the series when it comes to DVD on September 7, 2009.

Harper's Island 1x13- Sigh

Harper's Island is amazing. I cannot believe how amazing it was. I am so thankful that I actually watched the show because I loved it loads. It was one of the best shows of the 2008-2009 season. And this is a finale that doesn't disappoint.
.
What I love most about Harper's Island are the characters, how each had their own story, their own unique characteristics, and they manage to act extremely well. Tear-jerking finale? Definetly, when you remember all the people who have died, you can't help but realize that they didn't make it to the end. That is always sad in horror movies, and it is also an issue with this, it's just so emotional.
.
The whole series finale was fantastic. I loved the chases, the revelations, the survivors and the deceased. I was so looking forward to this and I was so thrilled that by the end of it I was not at all disappointed. I felt so sorry for Sully, he was ganged on by Wakefield and Henry and he had no way to escape, the whole island massacre was designed so no one would survive apart from Henry and Wakefield (who is double-crossed by Henry) and Abbey, and Jimmy.
.
Being in a situation like that would be heart-stopping, it really would be a scary atmosphere. Henry is obsessed with Abbey ever since they were kids and Henry would visit Abbey at home in Harper's Island. It makes me feel so sorry for Trish too, who loved Henry but was used all this time just so he could be with Abbey. Pretty demented, huh? Yup!
.
The very end, when the video of the wedding guests saying congratulations to Henry and Trish for marrying, was very sad because people who had died prior to the finale were in the video, well only some, but I was extremely glad that Cal and Chloe were in the video, because they were my favourite couple, and it was very emotional, and Trish was in it too, and then the very end with Henry, it makes you realize how crazy he really was, but it kind of makes me feel a little sorry for him too. They all seemed so happy.
.
So if you haven't watched the series yet, I think you would regret not seeing it, because it truly was a fantastic series overall, and I will definetly be rewatching on DVD when it comes out.

Harper's Island 1x12- Gasp

You cannot believe how excited I was for the final 2 episodes of Harper's Island, I even stayed up all night and morning to download the last 2 episodes, and I finally got to watch them at about 3am, and my excitement was enough to keep me awake. When it started, I got butterflies and goosebumps.
.
Spoilers ahead. I knew something would happen to Trish this episode, and since my favourite character was killed off in episode 11, my second favourite, Trish, had to step up for the role, and she did amazing. I didn't want her to die, and I felt so so sorry for her- her fiance, who she loved so deeply, turns out to be the second killer (which I guessed since the 5th episode that he would be a killer), and she is so hurt by it, that he used her so his dad, Wakefield (the main killer) could get his revenge on Abby.
.
Her death scene is my second favourite in the whole series, but it is my favourite in this episode. Poor Danny too, died to save Shea and Madison from a similar fate from Wakefield. It was a very smart and enjoyable episode, and I thorougly enjoyed it. When Trish died, I did what I did when I saw Chloe die, I got tears in my eyes.
.
Now Abby is my favourite, and she is the main character, so I've always assumed she would survive to the end, which I turned out to be right, but even though I predicted it, it didn't crush the excitement and shocks I still got from the last few episodes, I'm just so sad that its ending and no more episodes will be produced, but I am looking very forward to the DVD release.

Harper's Island 1x11- Splash

One of the best television episodes ever. I really mean it, it was so emotional, it actually had me tearing up. I could not believe my eyes when one of the most tragic things ever happened on the show. It's really making Harper's Island a favourite, and this episode really deserves to be there. Honestly, I have never been so sad before, and I thought Prue Halliwell's funeral from Charmed was emotional, if I watch the last few scenes of this episode again I will actually cry.
.
To tell you the truth, I have never cried in like 2 years, I just literally can't get myself to cry, I would love to cry and let it all out, but my body just won't let me lol wierd. But this episode is making me cry, and I urge people to watch the series, because it is shining.
.
Don't read ahead if you don't want to be spoiled. Unfortunatly, I spoilt the episode for myself before I watched it, I just had to go on Wikipedia and look at the death chart to see that my favourite character and the love of her life both die in this episode. Chloe + Cal are the best television couple ever, next to Melinda and Jim. There is nothing more sad than watching your soon-to-be husband get killed.
.
The one scene I will focus on is their death scene, because that single scene turned Harper's Island into one of the best shows in my opinion. The music was tear-worthy when this all happened, like I am listening to it now and it just makes me tear up. The last few minutes of the episode have Shea finding out there is a second killer, who seems to be Jimmy, who is currently with Trish in a car and he looks at her with an evil look, attempting to steal her gun as she sleeps, but she wakes up, the future isn't looking good for her.
.
Chloe was kidnapped by Wakefield, the killer, and locked in a drain, and Cal, Abby and Henry go looking for her in the woods, as Wakefield makes an appearance and Abby and Henry attempt to distract him as Cal goes to look for Chloe. He finally finds her and lets her out, and asks her to be his wife, in which she replies "yes" and they share a brief intimate moment, which is ruined by Wakefield himself. Cal and Chloe run down the bridge, which has been blocked in the middle, and Cal tells Chloe to climb around, and she gets halfway until Wakefield makes his way to him, and Cal tells Chloe that he loves her. It is just so sad, and so emotional, the most emotional in television history.
.
Cal tries to protect himself from Wakefield, but unfortunatly Chloe has to watch as Wakefield drives a boarding knife into Cal's chest, and he looks at her, hoping she would get fully around and escape Wakefield before being thrown over the side. The music hear is so sad, its "Letters From the Sky" by Civil Twilight, honestly, it just sets the scene up beautifully.
.
Then, Chloe screams and cries as she sees her lover falling into the water. She sees him floating, and looks at Wakefield for a few seconds of silence, before she says "You Can't Have Me". And Oh My God, she lets go, and lets herself fall into the river, which the bridge was very high up, and she lands in the river, floating at the top right next to her deceased fiance.
.
Really, I will not get over this for years, they so should have done something like this for Edie Britt in Desperate Housewives, now that would have been a much better send-off for her. But Chloe is just amazing, I am so so sad she is gone from the show now, I will really miss her.

"Harper's Island" Episodes 5-10 Review

Harper's Island is an amazing series I have just decided. I can't believe the ratings it has been getting lately, because it really does deserve more than just 3 millions for the past few episodes, but that is probably down to it being aired on Global first and then on CBS, so the ratings would suffer.
.
Episode 5 was an amazing episode, and don't read ahead if you don't want to be spoiled. I loved the whole of it really, from when Trish and Thomas get stranded in the woods and then that scary man with a dog just showed up out of nowhere and set the dog on them, I was like "uh-oh, who the hell does he think he is?", but noneless it was great entertainment. I was shocked by the end, I didn't think Thomas would die so early, I would have thought that he would have lived a lot longer, maybe until episode 9 or 10, but not as early as 5. But oh well, it was a very dramatic scene, and it definetly began the whole awareness for the rest of them.
.
Episode 6 was just as good, and very emotional, because the actors and actresses do amazing jobs at crying and creating drama, and even comedy. Mourning Thomas was one of the saddest things on the show yet, bless him. The scene with Cal and Chloe in the bar when that man had found Cal's ring and proposed to his wife with it and Cal tells Chloe, and Chloe comes up with a sly plan to get it back, and it worked, she is amazing, I loved that scene, she was so funny, definetly what the show needed.
.
Episode 7 wasn't as good as the last 2, but it still packed a punch with everyone getting ready to go off the island, but then that Madison had to get kidnapped and so people couldn't go and that meant more people would die. I felt sorry for Malcolm, bless him, he was desperate for money and he needed it.
.
Episode 8 was okay too, it wasn't the best, but it definetly had a lot of good scenes with the flashbacks and the identity of the killer is twisted and even more mystery than ever. I do enjoy the episodes whether not much happens, but I watched it a while ago now so I've basically forgot what happened really, but I do remember J.D. dies, and I was quite glad, he was kind of getting on my nerves.
.
Episode 9 really picked up when they're looking for Madison while trapped in the hotel, and there was even more great acting, especially from Gina Holden's Shea. Beth goes missing and the rest try to look for her, while others try to get off the island, but decide not to because if they do then Madison will be killed. I'm glad Cal and Chloe are like the perfect couple, they are amazing. They find Beth, bless her, she is dead, and then at the very end, Shane finds Katherine freshly dead in the conservatory, just as Madison is saved and reveals that Abby's dad, the sheriff, is the one who kidnapped her.
.
Episode 10 was just amazing. Everyone thinks the sheriff is the killer, and that Abby might be Wakefield's daughter. I really love all these revelations, but there is a plot twist coming up. Later in the episode, Maggie, who I didn't really like, thinks she will be safe after the survivors take refuge in the town's local bar, and then she goes wandering off thinking the killer won't go after her, is she dense? Of course, she dies. And then the boat explosion which Jimmy was on, but for some reason, Wakefield brought Jimmy alive and nearly unharmed to them. That really made me suspect Jimmy though. At the end, Abby goes to see her father at the hotel, who reveals that Wakefield is not her dad, and that Wakefield is still alive, and is the killer. Unfortunatly, Abby sees her dad get killed and runs outside to see him hanging, just like her mother years before. And the cliffhanger is when Wakefield comes up behind Abby, and says "You look just like your mother."
.
Scary series but it is an amazing series, I have really grown to love it and I am so glad I decided to get into the show, I so recommend watching it.

"Harper's Island" Episodes 1-4 Review

Well I only started watching the series yesterday after a few hints to watch it. The first hint was when I bought the newest Supernatural Magazine from the newsagents that morning, and inside I read about Jim Beaver being in a show called Harper's Island. The second hint came when I was looking through IMDb and read on Katie Cassidy's profile that she was starring in a show called Harper's Island. Then the third hint came when I saw one of my friends on YouTube favourited the Harper's Island trailer. After viewing the trailer I thought it looked good. Then the last hint was when I went on TVShowsOnDVD.com and saw an update for the Harper's Island DVD release. So I decided to watch it finally.
.
And when I finished watching the first episode, I really enjoyed it. I love horror movies, and the show is like a horror movie cut down into 40-minute long episodes. I was thrilled I finally watched it, and the deaths are thrilling, not knowing who will live or die, its like watching a horror movie for the first time, except this is better since I have to wait a whole week to find out who is the next victim, or victims.
.
So far I'm loving the characters and I really wanna know who the killer is, so I'm just gonna have to wait and find out. I have Episodes 5-9 to watch, which I will do later today (02:03am at the moment) and then review them. The first four episodes have been gripping with secrets and deaths, I can't wait to watch it all.

"90210" Splashes onto DVD with Cover Art Revealed

Beverly Hills, 90210's spin-off splashes onto DVD with
90210: The Complete First Season

I was pleasantly surprised when watching 90210, I didn't think I would get into it. After a few episodes, I began to like it more and more, and the real reason why I wanted to watch it was for Shannen Doherty from Charmed and the original 90210 series. Even though Brenda Walsh isn't in a lot of episodes, I have enjoyed her being back on a television show. I've never seen the original series, but I am starting to buy the DVDs.

90210 will be coming out in Region 1 on August 11, 2009, while Region 2 don't have to wait as long as usual and will be able to buy the DVD and will get it as early as August 18, 2009, just one week later. I am still unsure whether I should get Region 1 or Region 2, I will decide when they both come out.

There will be behind-the-scenes featurettes about music on the show, fashion, sets and more. The DVD set will also be comprimised in 6 DVD Discs.
