I definetly loved this episode a lot more than the premiere, though both episodes were perfect in my opinion (though Episode 1 could have done with much improvement). Again, with Supernatural, it steps up its game every episode that passes, or so far, so I hope this continues.
.
I am glad Castiel wasn't in the episode much, he is beginning to grate on me with his "holier than thou" routine and "look at my higher status" attitude. He has a face I just wanna slap and is turning into Eli James 2.0 if he doesn't learn how to smile at least once. I was looking forward to seeing Jo and Elle in this episode, as I liked both, and missed them also. The storyline was captivating, with Sam and Dean having to go to a derelict town where people seem to be going demented and turning against each other. Turns out one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse is making people think who they are looking at are demons. Great!
.
The ending shocked me quite a bit, as small as it was, I was actually astonished that the brothers are going their separate ways. Even though they have been at each other's throats for a while now, it's still quite hard to imagine a brotherly bond like theirs has stretched to the point where it's snapped. I do hope they are reunited, mainly for the fact that I hear Dean will be teaming up with Castiel in Episode 3, and that would mean more Castiel :( The joy! I am really not looking forward to that.
.
Negative! Why the hell do the creative team not think of something good for a change? I mean really, the War Horseman of the Apocolypse looks like EVERYTHING else in the show - human! Demons look like humans, Angels look like humans, and now the Horseman of the Apocolypse? I mean really! Has their budget been cut to the point that the show doesn't have any supernatural look to it at all? Are they going to just stick bad guys in clothes and throw them on set? Change this please, and fast.
Supernatural ended last season with a great cliffhanger- Lucifer Rising! They had an amazing concept and I was soo excited for Season 5. Even though I loved, loved, loved the episode, "Sympathy for the Devil" was a little disappointing. I wasn't very disappointed, and I still gave the episode a 10, there was just a few things I realized while watching.
.
The show is called Supernatural? There isn't anything supernatural about it anymore. We've had the Angels storyline for a year now, and it's getting old and boring. There is nothing creative about Supernatural, as every single Angel looks like a human, and now the Devil does- where is the creativity in that? Demons and Angels look exactly the same, and the only difference is Demons sometimes get black eyes- wow! The show isn't scary anymore either, it's relying too heavily on Dean's sarcasm as comedy for the show to still be successful- I want the scares back.
.
The episode was great, no doubt about it, and I got a surprise when Bobby attacked Dean, so I was glad that happened. I did feel a little sorry for Sam since he was the one who made Lillith die and opened Hell, but it was by accident, so I can't really blame him too much.
Now this was a season finale worth waiting for.I began watching Supernatural over a year now and it has grown to be one of my favourite television shows of all time as I love horror stuff and urban legends and what Supernatural is basically all about. It's like a darker version of Charmed but instead of 3 sisters there are 2 brothers fighting evil.I love the name for starters, it like connects with the first episode of the season (Lazarus Rising). The whole season [four] has been building up to this, and I loved the whole 666 seals but only 66 have to be broken and it seems like an impossible mission. There is one seal left, and Sam doesn't know what it is.The fight between Sam and Dean in the previous episode was pretty intense, but it was quite good to see, now the brothers seem to be fighting each other as well as the evil that threaten their lives- Dean has sided with Castiel and the Angels, as Sam has sided with Ruby, a demon. I really was stunned to find that Ruby was actually manipulating Sam all this time to get him to break the final seal, and I preferred Katie Cassidy's portrayal of Ruby rather than Genevieve Cortese, but Genevieve is still a great actress.I think the final shot could have been done better. What I was hoping for was the viewers to see Lucifer actually rise from Hell, looking all ugly and creepy and downright scary and saying a quirky witty line that symbolizes, of course, the apocolypse. Instead the screen went all white and that was the end of the season.Cliffhangers have been quite weak for most shows this 2008-2009 television season. But overall, I loved the finale, and the whole season in general.
